Here are a few frequently asked questions:
Do I need to be pre-law to participate?
No, students of any major can join. We need people to portray witnesses as well as attorneys. Anyone with interest in acting, debate, public speaking, whether for fun or practical experience is encouraged to check us out.
Do I get class credit?
Yes, you can receive class credit for competing on the mock trial team. You will learn about legal procedure and get public speaking experience as well as experience in thinking on your feet.
Do I need prior mock trial or debate experience?
No, we will teach you everything you need to know.
What is the time commitment?
The team has a formal meeting at least once per week in class, we usually meet twice per week as the season progresses and you are expected to work on your part on your own time. Our competitions do occur on weekends and we have some weekend practices as well. We will participate in 3 to 4 tournaments prior to Christmas Break and another one or two after, prior to the AMTA tournament beginning. We will attend a Regional competition with the intention of qualifying for ORCS and hopefully for the National Tournament.
