2015-2016
2015-2016 Season
This was our 5th full season of competition.
Criminal case – Just days after the Midlands Gambling Commission voted to grant a second casino license to Avery Bancroft, the Midlands State Police Department arrested Bancroft and Chase Covington, the Commission’s chairperson. A source inside the MSPD indicates that the arrest is the result of a long-term sting operation aimed at reducing rampant corruption in Midlands government. Bancroft is notorious in Midlands business and political circles for active involvement in political campaigns, most recently as a vocal (and financial) supporter of Max Heisman’s mayoral bid. Covington has been long known as the swing vote on the Midlands Gambling Commission, bridging an acrimonious split between the Commission’s other two members.
Covington argues that no bribe occurred. Bancroft admits that a transfer of money took place but argues that Bancroft was entrapped by the actions of law enforcement.
Nationals case – Mickey Keenan, an undercover officer for the Midlands State Police Department, was known for blowing open some of the Department’s biggest cases. On March 18, 2016, the Blitz News Network exposed Keenan’s identity of Jamie Robinson. Hours later, Robinson was dead. One of the suspects in Robinson’s final investigation is now on trial for Robinson’s murder.
